Art Exhibit Review - Wabi-sabi Objects

Part 2 of our Art Appreciation class was a tour of the Bosque Gallery to view the Wabi-sabi Objects Exhibit by artist Harry C. Schwarz. This unique exhibit was wonderful with lots of appeal to our group. We looked at each piece and expressed our thoughts about the artist's inspiration. Art takes many forms....not just paint on canvas. We thoroughly enjoyed the diversity of his work with emphasis on metal work. Be sure to visit the exhibit through July 8th. Following you will find three documents: 1. Artist Statement explaining his inspiration for Wabi-sabi, 2. A check list of terms by Parson, Feldman, Kohlberg, and Bloom, and finally 3. Comments made by our class members.

Ways to Respond to a Work of Art

We each respond to art differently, and that is a beautiful thing. In the class presented by Gloria Marubio, we viewed a presentation showing several well known pictures and discussed what we saw and how it made us feel. Once we learned some components of art, Gloria then encouraged us to create our own masterpieces. View her presentation and our works of art by clicking on the attachments.

Strength Training

Exercise Improves the Quality of Life for Seniors

Studies have found that sedentary senior citizens who incorporated exercise into their lifestyles not only improved physical function, but experienced psychological benefits as well. Resistance or "strength" training has repeatedly been shown to be a safe and effective method of reversing muscle loss in the elderly.
