Big Bend National Park

Big Bend National Park, one of the last remaining wild corners of the United States, is sometimes considered "three parks in one," with mountain, desert, and river environments. The park encompasses more than 800,000 acres including the 1,000 miles of boundary between the US and Mexico. Native peoples lived in and around this area for thousands of years. Visit Big Bend National Park to discover the rich cultural history of this unique area.

Arthritis & Massage

As we age many of us slow down because the pain of arthritis limits our movements. Tim Janak Sr. and Tim Janak Jr. from Paths in Healing presented a great program about the benefits of massage in the treatment of arthritis. Therapeutic massage can help relieve that pain. The goal of Paths in Healing is to help people relieve pain and regain motion which is essential to well being. They offer several different types of massage. Olive Oil Guy

Olive Oil has been an integral part of human life for thousands of years. Not only is it used as a cooking oil, but it is also great for your skin and hair. David Laufenberg of KDS Gourmet Foods presented a great informative program on Olive Oil. We even got to taste 14 different olive oils and learn about their harvest time, processing and best use. We learned the difference between "flavored" oils and "infused" oils. Dave is certainly a walking encyclopedia about olive oil. We are lucky in that Dave now has a permanent store location in Katy. That means that you can replenish your olive oil supply whenever you need it....or whenever you want to try a new flavor. Be sure to read more details about olive oil in the attached brochures.

District Clerk

Do you know what the District Clerk does? Loren Jackson, District Clerk for Harris County, enlightened us on this issue. There are almost 100 courts that operate within Harris County....and it is up to the District Clerk's office to make sure that the public knows what happens in these courts. Not only are they in charge of Jury Duty summons, but a District Clerk must be present at each Civil, Criminal, Family and Child Support case in order for it to proceed. Trial notes and decisions must be recorded and made available to the public in order to make our justice system work. We all left class with a better appreciation for the people working in the office of District Clerk. More Info - Click Here
