Advisory Committee Minutes - May 2011

The Summer Registration and Ice Cream Social was a great hit. Be sure to look at the schedule for Summer and attend classes of interest - there are lots of options. The Summer Schedule is posted on both the college website and on the top right of this blog. The Fall semester will find us in a new room location - we will let you know as soon as we have confirmation of the new room number.

Fall will be chaotic as they open the new buildings and shift classes around for a large influx of students. If you would like to assist with Student Registration in the Fall, please let Cheryl know and she will get you scheduled.

Heart Attack & Stroke Care

During a heart attack or stroke, quick detection and proper treatment can make a life changing difference. Dr. Chaitanya B. Shah presented a very interesting program outlining symptoms of heart attack and stroke. Class members asked many questions and the doctor answered them. This was a great open exchange of information. The primary point to remember is that "Time is Critical" -Do Not Ignore Symptoms. It is better to get to the hospital and let the professionals make the assessment of your condition. Review the attached documents for more info on Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital.

Eleanor Roosevelt

Eleanor Roosevelt overcame many obstacles to become America's most loved First Lady. She struggled with an unhappy childhood, betrayal in marriage, and depression. But she stayed true to her passion for civil rights and social justice. Ann Candela provided a film for viewing and the following handout showing some of Eleanor Roosevelt's quotations.
