Genealogy Workshop - April 8

Today was our last class in the 8 sessions with Michelle Christi. We certainly enjoyed learning tips and techniques about genealogical research. I believe that everyone was able to find one or more links in their personal research. Today's class was about how to research business and employment records to find family connections. Michelle also compiled a listing of "old" job descriptions that will help you understand what your ancestor did as a living....you will be amused at the jobs listed.

Several class members asked for a sheet gathering all of the websites that Michelle has mentioned. I created a one page Word document that you can download and click on each website. To view and download - click here.

Introduction to New Orleans Architecture

New Orleans is an interesting place to visit; the food, the music, and the architecture. Sid Trest, ALL member, shared his passion for New Orleans architecture in this very informative class. He showed us various examples of homes and buildings and explained their forms in context with the city's history.

Genealogy Workshop - April 1st

Michelle Christie was a real "trooper" for the April 1st class. She wasn't feeling well for several days prior to the class.  However she really wanted to make sure that students had the best website sources to research immigration of ancestors.  Check out the websites shown in the following PowerPoint presentation.  Immigration PowerPoint - click here
