Cheryl LeJune gave new and not-so-new members an introduction to the benefits of being an ALL member at CyFair College. There are so many opportunities to volunteer, use student discounts, get free software, etc. A campus tour was given by the Student Ambassadors to acquaint the members with campus.

January Bus Trip
Our bus trip for 2017 got off to a great start. We visited a new site, the TEEX Brayton Fire Training Facility in College Station. We were able to see fireman training on many types of fires and take a tour of the emergency response area call Disaster City. Very interesting insight to what goes on to train first responders from around the world.
We closed the day at the Bernhardt Winery with great weather, great scenery and fun wine tasting.

Student ID Cards
As a member of ALL
(Academy for Lifelong Learning), you are eligible to receive a Student ID Card.
With your ID card, you can enjoy the many benefits available to students. On
campus, your ID Card will allow you to use the Fitness Center and to obtain
discounts on college theater and musical productions. Off campus, many movies,
museums and theaters offer discounts to students in Houston and around the
world.
If you registered during our Spring Open House,
wait 2-3 weeks before trying to get your Student ID so we can process your registration form and payment. Visit the Payment Center, Counter #4, in the CASA building, with a picture ID (driver’s license), to
obtain your Student ID form. Take the ID form, along with a picture ID, to the
ID Station located in the Library (left end of the check-out counter) to get
your photo taken and Student ID issued.
If you register at a different time,
ask for the ID form when you pay at the Payment Counter. Take the ID form,
along with a picture ID (driver’s license), to the ID Station located in the
Library (left end of the check-out counter) to get your photo taken and ID
issued.

Study Abroad, Anyone?
Lone Star College is looking for students interested in participating in their Study Abroad programs where you can study certain courses in a foreign location. If you have an interest in participating in one of the programs, please look at this link. Find the course(s) and destination where you have an interest, read the description and cost, contact the professor(s) to see if space is available, and see if they are willing to add a Continuing Education slot for you. Some of these programs do require a lot of walking, so please read the descriptions carefully.

Spring 2017 Open House and Registration
It's time for our next ALL open House, this Friday, January 13th, from 10am until Noon in the Conference Center. Come by to visit with ALL friends, get parking sticker, register for classes, and sign up for bus trips. We plan to have tables for Center of the Arts, Stepping Out, Friends of the Library, Photo Special Interest Group, Quilling Club, and Cypress Historical Society. Stop by these tables and check out what they have to offer.
Here are a few tips:
Remember, your membership fee is good from September 1, 2016-August 31, 2017, so if you already paid your $20 membership fee, you do not need to pay again this semester. You may pay by check, cash or credit card. Check is made out to Lone Star College.
Regarding registration form drop off: If you are not signing up for any Arts & Craft classes, you can drop off your form (with membership payment, if necessary) at Registration table outside the Conference room. If you plan to take Arts & Craft classes, you must sign up at the instructor's table, get orange card (if you don't already have one), and pay for classes (with membership payment, if necessary) when you drop off your registration form at Registration table inside the Conference room.
Regarding bus trips: We will pass out numbers so that people can line up in the order they arrive. Once inside the Conference room, proceed to your highest priority trip; Jan - Fire Training/Winery, Feb - My Fair Lady play, or Mar - Texas State Railroad. Sign up for the trip and get orange card (if you don't already have one). Continue until you have signed up for trips you want. You will make payment for bus trips outside of Conference room in Foyer; payment by check, payable to CyFair ALL, or cash.
Looking forward to seeing everyone Friday! - Cheryl LeJune, Chairman
