Please join us as CyFair ALL presents another Focus Day, The Dementia Journey. It has been a few years since we had a Focus Day where we invite subject-matter experts to talk about a specific topic for our members. Dr. Peggy Presnell, previous chairman, and I have put together a program to provide information to our ALL members and help start the conversation on how to deal will Dementia and Alzheimer's. -- Cheryl LeJune

Open House - Important Information

There are several important changes to our Fall 2018 Open House on Friday, August 17 at 10am.

1. Parking stickers are no longer required on any LSC campus for students and visitors. Do not park in designated staff/faculty parking or, at North Harris, in ALL designated parking unless you have an ALL parking sticker. LSC-CyFair will not be giving out any student, including ALL, parking stickers.

2. Still no definitive plan on what to do with our expiring student IDs. The problem is that the ID cards are both a library card as well as a student ID. Will keep you informed. New members will get an ID as usual.

3. Payment Change - For those of you signing up for craft classes and/or bus trips, payments for both will be made to "CyFair ALL" by check or by cash. Payments for craft classes and bus trips can be made by same check. Payment table will be outside the conference room in the Foyer where the bus payments have always been. You will not be paying the college, Lone Star College, this semester for craft classes along with your membership fee. Pay only $20 membership fee when you drop off your registration form at the Open House.

Come enjoy the Open House. Hope to see you there. We will have some nice door prizes, too!

Food for Thought Food Pantry

Lone Star College-CyFair has started a Food Pantry for our students. Please come by their table at our Fall Open House to find out more about the Food Pantry and drop off any goods they might need. You can find the Donations List here.

The Lone Star College-CyFair "Food for Thought" Food Pantry is open and ready to help those in need. The food pantry is located in CASA 121. You may contact the Food Pantry at CFFood@lonestar.edu or 281.290.5959.

Fall 2018 Open House August 17th

Our Fall Open House will be held Friday, August 17th, in the Conference Center from 10am - Noon. Come by and visit with ALL friends, sign up for craft classes and bus trips, as well as register for our great lineup of classes this Fall. Light refreshments will be provided. The CyFair ALL membership for the 2018/2019 academic year is still $20 and the Global membership is $55.

The 2018 Fall catalog is now available on line (view it here) and in the CE office (CASA 116). Catalogs should arrive at your home shortly.

Please note that Parking Stickers are no longer required at LSC campuses for students (including ALL members) or visitors parking in the general student parking areas. Only Faculty/Staff require stickers to park in designated Faculty/Staff parking areas.

LSC-CyFair Summer Theater - Awesome Allie

Awesome Allie is the story of Allie, just a normal kid who is... headed into outer space! With he help of her trusty talking dog Captain Chaos and Rover the Dancing Robot from Mars, Allie's on a mission across the solar system to save Earth, and maybe learn some things about science along the way. But she'd better be home in time for dinner! Grab your space suit and get ready for an adventure that's out of this world?

Noises Off - Unity Theater, Brehnam TX

Joshua Estrada, our CyFair Fine Arts Coordinator, invites our ALL members to see the play, Noises Off  at the Unity Theater in Brenham. Joshua works at the theater as well as his wife, who is in this play. The play runs from June 14-July 1 (dark Mon-Wed). 

Winner of the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy and Tony nominated for Best Play, this is an uproarious depiction of what goes on (and what goes wrong) backstage during a theatrical performance. The play chronicles the rocky final dress rehearsal and subsequent disastrous performances of a farce called Nothing On. As the cast and crew of a third-rate touring company attempt to negotiate the farcical demands of the play-within-the-play — fast entrances and exits, cases of mistaken identity, clothing quickly doffed and donned — a hilarious parade of madcap backstage mishaps threatens to derail the proceedings altogether. 

If you are looking for something to do this summer, take a drive out to Brehnam for the show or make a weekend out of it in beautiful Washington County.

Bosque Gallery Volunteers Needed

The Bosque Art Gallery at LSC-CyFair is looking to expand its hours starting in Fall 2018. The Gallery would like to know if any ALL members would like to volunteer. It is a nice quiet environment, so you could read or do some other hobby during your shift.

Think Factory - The Harvey Effect: How a Community Responds to Disaster

You are invited to a discussion with Judge Ed Emmett and the Harris County Flood Control District at the next Think Factory. Hurricane Harvey had a huge impact on the greater Houston area and Judge Emmett was front and center during the crisis. The Think Factory is presented by LSC-CyFair's Philosophy Department.
