The Summer Registration and Ice Cream Social was a great hit. Be sure to look at the schedule for Summer and attend classes of interest - there are lots of options. The Summer Schedule is posted on both the college website and on the top right of this blog. The Fall semester will find us in a new room location - we will let you know as soon as we have confirmation of the new room number.

Fall will be chaotic as they open the new buildings and shift classes around for a large influx of students. If you would like to assist with Student Registration in the Fall, please let Cheryl know and she will get you scheduled.

Heart Attack & Stroke Care

During a heart attack or stroke, quick detection and proper treatment can make a life changing difference. Dr. Chaitanya B. Shah presented a very interesting program outlining symptoms of heart attack and stroke. Class members asked many questions and the doctor answered them. This was a great open exchange of information. The primary point to remember is that "Time is Critical" -Do Not Ignore Symptoms. Pop Top Bracelet

What a FUN class !! As homage to Earth Day, Linda Gabrielson led a class on turning Pop Top Rings into a cute Bracelet. Linda is a staunch proponent of Recycle, Reduce, Reuse. Communication - A Digital Divide

Have we forgotten how to talk to each other? Cell phones, computers and the internet have become ingrained in our culture. Some feel these devices enhance communication by making it quick and easy. Others feel that they hinder communication by making it impersonal. Whatever your opinion, I'm sure that these technologies are here to stay....so we have to adapt and use them to our advantage. Associate Professor Patrick Barton held an open discussion on this topic and referred us to an article by Sami Hassanyeth called The Shrinking Generational Digital Divide. Math is Fun.....so Professor Kim Lane tells us. Whether we think about it or not, math is part of our everyday lives. So maybe it is time for a little refresher - it has been many years since most of us had any formal study in math. Look over the handouts for reminders on the basics.

The human body is a marvelous combination of systems. But at times we may have health issues related to one of these systems such as the Digestive or Intestinal System. The problem may arise from illness or injury at any stage of life from infancy through old age. To maintain life, the body must have nutrition. If a person is unable to "eat" in the normal way, then alternative methods are available. Hopefully the alternative feeding methods will be temporary and the person will return to good health. Michelle Rivera with Walgreens Infusion Services gave us a great program on these alternate feeding methods including Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition Support.
