Monte Parks, Educational Programmer for Jesse H. Jones Park, presented a great class on the period
between 1685-1860 and the groups of people that shaped Texas. Included in this presentation, are the pirates, rebels, and Anglos, who were the filibusters looking for ways to dominate the land, the politics, or for other reasons. This history is a very interesting take on some of the early settlers in the area.

In this class, we learned of the many great places within a reasonable driving distance of Houston to do our birdwatching. They also presented some events where you can gain a greater knowledge of this activity. Birding is a great way to get out in nature and go for a walk.
