Hearne Had a POW Camp

We journey back in time during WWII when the Allies had no place to put the hundreds of thousands of German soldiers surrendering to Allied Forces. Small towns across the United States were chosen to host POW camps. One such camp was located about 100 miles northwest of Houston in Hearne, Texas. Alzheimer's

Ann Marie McDonald, Outreach Coordinator for the Houston & Southwest Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association gave us a great talk on January 24th. There was discussion on the 10 Signs of Alzheimer's, 5 Ways to Maintain Your Brain, Resources for Families and Driving Warning Signs. Ms. McDonald will continue the discussion on Monday, March 28th at 10:00 - so mark your calendars.

Academy for Lifelong Learning Spring 2011 Registration and Open House

The Spring Open House and Registration at LSC-CyFair will be on Saturday, January 22, 2011 from 10:00-12:00 in Conference Center Room 151. Please join us for the fun and turn in your class registration form. Following are the files pertaining to the Spring 2011 Semester. You can save the files on your computer for future reference and print at your convenience. Please complete as much of the Registration Form as you can before you come to the Open House....that will allow you to to enjoy the fun and friendship. Be sure to enter the Registration # and Class Name for each classes you would like to attend. There are four classes that have materials fees.....for these classes you need to enter them on your form AND stand in line to enroll and pay the necessary fee. Please bring your ID Card so you can get the new Spring 2011 sticker for your card.

Panama Canal Transit Cruise

Did you know that several ALL members are getting together for a cruise through the Panama Canal? There are still open slots if you would like to join the cruise. Cruise Dates are April 13 - 17th. The cruise on Holland American cruise line starts in San Diego and goes all the way around through the Panama Canal and ends in Ft. Lauderdale. Prices range from $1,099 to $1,999. Cruisers will receive $100 per cabin onboard spending money, a private cocktail reception, and a private class on Life In Panama taught by ALL members Mabeth and Ken Coleman.
