A Cross To Share

Gene Chism inspired us with this project - we turned simple wooden clothespins into treasured crosses. Class members had a giggling good time as we deconstructed wooden clothespins and then glued them back together (along with our fingers). Once the shape was perfected, and the glue dried, Gene then took them home to his "real" workshop where he sanded them to perfection. During the last class some people added a stain and decorative flowers to enhance their project. It certainly was a good thing that Gene was there to guide the group through to the finished cross. Travel - Canada or Grand Canyon

Peggy Presnell will lead another travel class on Thursday, April 1st at 1:30. She is doing a lot of phone work to find us the best pricing for trips to interesting places. Even though Peggy is associated with a travel agency, she is NOT a paid employee.....but this association allows her to have access to behind the scenes info on trips. Please come to the meeting on Thursday to see what's coming up. Attached is info on a couple of trips that people requested. One is a cross-Canada trip with most of the travel being on the great passenger trains that go through beautiful territory. The other trip going from Phoenix, up through the Grand Canyon and on to Vegas. If you are interested in this trip, please call Peggy at 281-304-7127.

Computer - My Library

Librarian Amy Mollberg led this hands-on class showing us how to use the computer to search for and reserve books through the library system. Did you know that you can even read books online while sitting in your own house? Or perhaps you would like to access databases such as The Wall Street Journal and Value Line. Let's face it "kids" - libraries have moved into the electronic age.

The LSC/Harris County Public Library at the CyFair campus is a wonderful resource for this community. And the librarians there are all very knowledgeable and willing to assist with any questions. If you haven't been to the library lately, make plans to visit soon.....and a librarian there can show you the many things that the library can offer.

Travel Time

Let's Travel

Have Great Fun Traveling

By Ship or Bus

Peggy Presnell and Ann Candela led a great discussion on traveling - whether on a cruise or a land trip. They are both seasoned travelers with lots of insight. Since Peggy now has access to some great deals with a travel agency, let's get a group together for a trip. Booking trips through Peggy doesn't add anything to the cost (she doesn't get a salary from the agency, but may get a few perks such as tickets to shore excursions). Wouldn't it be great fun to have a trip with your A.L.L. friends. Review the attached travel tips to get in the mood !! Travel Tips Majestic Tours

Basic Italic Handwriting

“Italic” is a style of handwriting with the letters slanting to the right. This class was led by local artist and craftsman Linda Gabrielson. Members learned the basic techniques of italic writing and then each practiced by doing homework. If you are interested in perfecting your italic writing, it would be good to check out a book from the library or perhaps even purchase one for reference. Review the attachments for additional info.

Mexican Cooking

Are you hungry? Well you will be once you read the recipes that we received in the Mexican Cooking class. We thoroughly enjoyed the cooking demonstration presented by the personable John Gatteys. Even though he currently lives in Arizona and is preparing to move back to Dallas, he took time to come to Houston to give us a class on how to make Chicken Enchiladas with Sour Cream Sauce and Guacamole Dip. Check out his tasty recipes. Make the Guacamole first, the Sour Cream Sauce second and then make and assemble the Enchiladas.
