Think Factory - Echoes of a Forgotten War

The next Think Factory is scheduled for Wednesday, March 29th, from 4-6pm in the Main Stage Theatre. Come and join the discussion as the panel presents Echoes of a Forgotten War in this popular event sponsored by the Philosophy Department. The panel will include: Aaron Gilette (UHD Asst. Prof. History), Tom Kelly (CyFair Prof. History), Robert Holmes (CyFair Prof. History), Grady Watts (CyFair Asst. Prof. Philosophy) and Hunter Miertschin (Student and Volunteer National U.S. Armed Forces Museum).

We learned some new math tricks from Kim Lane, Prof. of Developmental Math. These songs and tricks will come in handy if you are asked to help out the grandkids or want to remember some long-forgotten math.

Reader's Theatre - 'Night, Mother

ALL has been invited to the next presentation of the LSC-CyFair Readers Theatre. Faculty and staff will be reading 'Night, Mother by Marsha Norman.

This eloquent, enthralling and ultimately shattering play explores the final hour in the life of a young woman who has decided that life is no longer worth living. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize. 

There will be three performances in ART 102. Free.

Rock Stars - Pioneers of Earth Science

Nathalie Brandes, Professor of Geology, was back for another interesting discussion of geology. This time, we learned about the pioneers of geology starting with the early observations from the ancient world to the 19th century. These early geologists had great influence on other scientists in archaeology, biology, mining, etc. We also learned that many debates still exist in geology today.

Home Plumbing

ALL member, Stephen Ruback, introduced us to all things plumbing. We discussed how to handle simple plumbing issues before they get too big and having to call in an expensive plumber. By following a routine maintenance check, you can keep your repair bills in check.

Human Trafficking 101

Chris Horton, United Against Human Trafficking, presented some great information about the scope of the human trafficking problem. We discussed the reasons behind this global issue including the victims and the perpetrators. Houston is considered one of the most intense locales for human trafficking in the U.S.
